To kick start the AT project, we undertook assumption mapping in our table groups. While it served its purpose as a way of ridding ourselves of bias and proconcieved ideas, what I found most interesting about the time spent assumption mapping was the amount of people who had never been to Dominion Road! Personally, Dominion Road has always been the go-to for cheap yet delicous authentic Chinese food of dubious hygiene standards, and I'd find myself making a pilgrimage to sample it's culinary delights at least every few months. The fact that the vast majority of stores are open until the early hours is an added bonus for the myriad of intoxicated patrons staggering out from local bars. The unfamiliarity my groupmates had with the area provided us with a valuable advantage; genuine assumptions! After exhausting the assumption mapping method, we moved onto the knowledge gathering stage......

Pinning informative articles up on our corkboards soon filled the room with a collage of useful information and images. The open plan layout of our classroom increased the value of our knowledge gathering efforts as it aided in creating a sense of collaboration and openess not present in our previous years education. Having access to other groups information will only increase the quality of our research and benefit our final design solutions.
