Following my initial visit to Dominion Road, our class embarked on a site visit, with AT representatives in tow to explain the various issues facing Dominon Road not only now, but in years to come. Starting the night with some food was a great way to initiate those unfamiliar with Dominion Roads main drawcard.

Wandering down Dominion Road with the AT representatives pointing out the intricacies and issues on Dominion Road proved to be incredibly valuable. Through discussion, I learnt of the future plans for the road, including light rail transport (LRT) and of the resistance local shop keepers have towards any infrastructure changes; a major source of contention. The issues raised, some of which mirrored my initial observations, included:
- Inconsistent lighting along the street
- Illegible bus timetables
- Poor lighting at bus stops
- Bus stops positioned hundreds of meters away from Dominion Road, especially at Balmoral
intersection
- Shop keepers oversetimating value of street parking to consumers

Several bicycles chained to a streetpost show a glaringly obvious deficiency in bike facilities.
From my site visits and discussion with the AT rep's, its clear that the Dominion Road / Balmoral area is severely behind regarding public transport infrastructure; a frustrating situation given the history of tram services running along the length of the road. Also, given that Dominion Road is frequented by younger generations indulging in food and drink, it seems non-sensical that a well established bus / train service isn't already in existence considering the ease of which younger people embrace these services.
