AT: Further concept development...

Having determined a shape for the solar panel lamp shade, I began looking into the lamp stand, or neck that will hold the LED lights and provide lighting in a contradictory manner. For this component, I had to balance strength with visibility. I wanted ample illumination to provide a beacon for AT passengers, but sufficient strength to resist any attempts at vandalism.

After sketching out quick concepts, I grabbed some cardboard and an LED torch to field test a few favourites....

I decided upon the round perforated look tubing. It will let ample light out and be highly visible while retaining almost all of its original strength. It is also easily manufacturable, requiring no specialised machinery.
