Playing around with proportions, I continued constructing cardboard models. I settled on the form above as my chosen design. Similar to earlier prototypes, I changed the way the leg sections attach to the desk top. As I had chosen to include a stationary tray in the center of the desk, it meant that with my previous x cut method, the desk would have to be flipped on the CNC machine. This would have proved to be a major production snag. Instead, I opted to cut four grooves in the desk, cutting all the way through. The legs will then locate into these grooves, showing a wood grain detail on the desk top, while allowing the CNC machine to cut its path without needing to flip the desktop. For this final iteration, I decided to use two of the larger offcut sheets. The extra length provides a better visual balance, as well as additional support, as the narrower footprint resulting from the previous narrower legs would have caused a flipping hazard. It also has the benefit of ridding a fraction more Omnipanel from the scrap bin.

I shall move forwards with this design, and begin looking at my offcuts in order to form a suitable chair to accompany the desk
