Developing this finished product and seeing how its evolved from my initial concepts has been a hugely enjoyable task. I'm incredibly proud of my final result and the knowledge that I gained along the way.

As a response to the design brief, which was to find a use for the clients waste material, I feel I have achieved a satisfactory response. The panels which I've utilised are a common offcut in the manufacture of camper homes, with each table and stool set using three of these sections, with less than 10% relegated to landfill. I've also worked hard to keep manufacturing costs down. With minimal labour, a simple wooden frame can be set into the foam during the Omnipanel lamination, and the table top, legs, and stool components cut on the CNC while the camper van panels are cut. Minor finishing, such as routing and edge banding could be done in house, before being flat packed to its destination. Upon arrival, assembly is quickly and easily achieved due to the press fit nature of the design.

I think the design itself is interesting, as it goes beyond the usual aesthetic and ergonomic objectives of furniture design. By introducing a group dynamic to classrooms, it serves to improve the learning environment beyond providing a work station. This is even more valuable in developing nations, who tend to follow an archaic classroom regime, reminiscent of Victorian era education!

Without ceding to narcissism, I really do feel my proposed design is a strong response to the design brief, and achieves it in a functional and attractive manner, providing a modern and progressive furniture solution for under funded educational facilities. I am interested in taking this project further and will give it serious consideration for my end of year project....
